UMBC Concert Hall

The main entrance to the Concert Hall is on the second floor of the Performing Arts and Humanities Building. The Performing Arts and Humanities Building entrance facing Lot 8 is on the second floor, and the hall will be immediately ahead.

The Concert Hall will host a large number of events beginning Fall of 2014, replacing the Recital Hall as the Department of Music’s major performance space. Concerts can range from international contemporary music groups, to solo faculty performances, to classical vocal ensembles, and may also be the location of panel discussions, guest lectures and occasional dance and visual arts performances. Other music performance spaces located in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building include the Instrumental Ensemble Room or Music Box and the Recording Studio (located on the first floor).

Events held in the Concert Hall will often require an admissions charge, but are typically free for students and free with a UMBC ID. Student recitals and performances by UMBC student ensembles are free (pricing for each event is located in their listing). Tickets may be purchased on the day of the event and purchases made at the door are cash only. ATM’s are located in the University Center and The Commons (see map). Tickets purchased via MissionTix should be printed prior to arrival on campus, and presented at the door.

For discounted pricing and free ticketing at the door, students and UMBC community members should bring appropriate ID.

All ages are permitted to performances.

For events in the Fine Arts Building, we have made arrangements with campus parking services for free evening parking in Lot 8. As with all lots, free parking is available in Lot 8 on Saturday and Sunday, all day. To get to Lot 8, proceed either way around Hilltop Circle until you reach Hilltop Road, and then take Hilltop Road toward campus (toward the construction site). Take an immediate left into Lot 8 and park.

General metered visitor parking is also available in the Administration Drive Garage, located near the Administration Building, and in the Walker Avenue Garage. Meter fees are $.25 for each 15 minutes, quarters only, maximum time of 5 hours. Meters are not enforced on University observed holidays. (Parking Services does not guarantee that change will be available on campus, but there are change machines in the parking garages.)

Generally, campus roadways and non-visitor parking lots require UMBC permits Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Permits are enforced year round.
