As part of the Modern Languages, Linguistics and Intercultural Communication Department’s Fall Film Festival, the Korean area of MLLI will screen The Attorney (original title: Byeonhoin). The film is a 2013 South Korean drama film based on a true story of Roh Moo-hyun, the ninth president of the Republic of Korea, who was well known for his human rights activist career as an attorney. The film shows how a money-seeking successful attorney transforms into one caring about the civil liberties of an activist college student he defends. This film is required for the students in the MLLI course Introduction to Korean Culture, and recommended to the students in Korean language courses. The film will be shown in Korean with English subtitles.
