As part of the Modern Languages, Linguistics and Intercultural Communication Department’s Fall Film Festival, the Russian area of MLLI will screen The Admiral. The film is a 2008 biopic about Alexander Kolchak, a Vice-Admiral in the Imperial Russian Navy and leader of the anti-communist White Movement during the Russian Civil War. The film also depicts the love triangle between the Admiral, his wife, and the poet Anna Timiryova. The Admiral will be required viewing for students in UMBC’s Basic Russian, Advanced Russian, and Political Russian courses. The film will be screened in Russian with English subtitles.
