This welcome event will include a lecture by Alumni Teo Melchishua Williams, a 2000 graduate of UMBC. Mr. Melchishua Williams is highly invested in the arts as a filmmaker, professor, animator, projection designer and afrofuturist. He is currently involved in the creation of documentaries that explore the topics of culture, science fiction and music. He is presently working as an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the Visual Communication and Digital Media Arts program in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Bowie State University. In addition to Mr. Teo Melchishua Williams’ lecture, incoming graduates will also e presenting informal speed talks about their work and the IMDA program. These graduate speakers will include: Rahne Alexander, Safiya Cheatam, Danielle Damico, Elija Davis, Lindsay D’Andelet, Maksym Prykhodko and Amelia Voos.
The event will take place on September 21st between 1 and 3:30 pm at the Lion Brothers Building at 875 Hollins Street Baltimore, MD 21201.
