We Make Art
January 31 – March 12
The Gallery at OCA Mocha presents We Make Art, an exhibition created in collaboration with Make Studio, a non-profit community-based arts organization based in Baltimore that envisions a world of acceptance and inclusion in which art opens doors for everyone. Make Studio empowers artists with disabilities to grow as professionals with visibility and voice in their communities.
The exhibition We Make Art features fourteen of Make Studio’s Black artists — Nadine Baldwin, Greg Bannister, Erika Clark, Chuck Fischer, Jeremy Foster, Julian Hinmon, Seth Jackson, Zach Manuel, Louis Middleton, Iragi Lya Nkere, Kareem Samuels, Tyrone Weedon, Jerry Williams, and Dontavious Woody — in celebration of Black History Month and the impact their art makes on the community all year round.
The exhibit is curated by Madeline Arbutus ’22, visual art, and media and communication studies. OCA Mocha thanks Make Studio’s program and exhibitions associate, Rosie Eck, for helping make this exhibit possible.
Admission to the exhibition is free.
The Gallery at OCA Mocha is dedicated to promoting and showcasing the creative efforts of UMBC and the surrounding community in its mission to unite people through artistic expression. Located at 5410 East Drive in Arbutus, Maryland, the gallery is open free to the public, with hours 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
