UMBC’s Department of Theatre presents a Theatre Mini-Fest, featuring faculty master classes by Eric Abele, Chelsea Pace, Adam Mendelson, Susan McCully, and Lynn Watson, March 4 through 6.

In this session, Chelsea Pace, co-founder of Theatrical Intimacy Education and author of Staging Sex: Best Practices, Tools, and Techniques for Theatrical Intimacy, talks about setting better boundaries in class, rehearsal, and on set.

Assistant professor Chelsea Pace is President of the Association of Theatre Movement Educators, and a founder of Theatrical Intimacy Education. She has developed a comprehensive approach for actors, directors, and choreographers to efficiently, effectively, and ethically stage theatrical intimacy, nudity, and sexual violence. In addition to theatrical intimacy, she specializes in devised work, physical theatre, clown, stage combat, mask, and traditional theatre movement methods. Her book Staging Sex: Best Practices, Tools, and Techniques for Theatrical Intimacy was published in 2020. She received a B.A. in music from Binghamton University and an M.F.A in theatre performance from Arizona State University.
